Deokjusamae buddha

Sister of Mauitaeza Duckju princess established this temple and Deokjusamae Buddha was carved on the eastern rock. This Buddha was carved at the southern wall of granite which is 13 meters tall, face is bulged and the body consists of lines. On the head, semicircle is raised and on chubby face, you can find the eyes, nose and chin.

Face was carved like this and this was exaggerated. This style was famous in Goryeo era. 3 lines are carved on the chest than the neck. Originally, 3 lines should be carved on the neck than the chest. Fat body with lines looks unique and original body line is ignored.

Clothes of Buddha are falling down and winkles in clothes looks bad. Right hand is held on the chest and the thumb and the middle finger are meeting. The foot which spreads is really big and toes are thick and long. Under the foot the lotus is carved.

By Donggukyeojiseungram's writing or stories, Duckju princess made this Buddha like her face and body but this is wrong. This Buddha was carved like a flat surface trying to make a big Buddha.
